FAQs

Smooth Sailing:
What You Need to Know Before We Go

Is this the right trip for me?

Our trips are designed to provide experiences for all fitness levels. Each FitCation site has its own challenges, so be sure to read about the specific locations to understand the minimum requirements for the trip.

Beginners will be offered modifications during the classes and enticing alternate activities for the more strenuous day trips.

Advanced fitness levels will be provided with opportunities to increase the intensity during classes and optional workouts for high-intensity training.

If you’re traveling solo…

Our Active Escapes are perfect for solo travelers! We promise you will have as much (or as little) company as you like. Your hosts and guides are here to ensure you feel welcome and included in our fun! Our small group size ensures that nobody slips through the cracks.

Your safety while on an Active Escape

Please use general traveling safety precautions. There is very little street crime in our destinations. Pickpocketing can be an issue in some regions, so please keep personal items close and wallets inside your pockets. Be sensible, wear sunscreen, and moderate your limoncello/mai tai/rakija/ouzo intake.

Dietary requirements/restrictions

We will attempt to honor specific dietary requests if notified in advance. However, guests must be responsible for their limitations, and options may be limited in some instances. You must notify us of any severe allergic reactions so we can help you relax and enjoy your meals without worries that a rogue shrimp will be in your arancino. You are responsible for bringing your emergency supplies.

Deposit and payment options

A nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of booking. For our FitCations, we offer payment installments and a pay-in-full payment option. The number of installments offered depends on when you book your FitCation. The earlier you book, the more installments you will have available. The closer to the departure date you book, the fewer installments will be available.

What should I pack?

Don’t worry, we have it covered! Each destination page has a specific Packing + Travel section to help you best prepare for your FitCation.

Do I need a travel visa?

Starting in early 2025, US travelers will need a visa to travel to Europe through the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). More information is available here.

What this means: You will need to go to the ETIAS website, fill out a form, and pay a small fee estimated to be less than $10 (free for applicants under 18 or over 70). The visa will be good for three years or until your passport expires — whichever happens first.

Travel information: How do I get there?

We are happy to help with suggestions for the best airports and connections. You are responsible for booking all travel outside of your FitCation. The rest is on us! We’ve partnered with several local operators to help you book your own pre or post-FitCation experiences and highly recommend adding to your trip. For details, check your destination page for add-on experiences.
